About Los Straitjackets
Website | Facebook | Instagram | YouTube | Spotify
The first band with the vision to realize reverb-drenched guitars and Lucha Libre were meant to be together, Los Straitjackets are masked marvels of instrumental rock. Playing in a style that owes a debt to veteran instrumental acts such as , , and , and never taking the stage without their trademark Mexican wrestling masks, Los Straitjackets deliver crisp guitar work with twang and reverb for seasoning, a no-nonsense rhythm section, solid instrumental skills, and a pronounced sense of humor. While the bulk of their catalog is instrumental, they've collaborated with vocalists such as , , (of ), and (of ), and they can build albums around themes such as swingin' '60s pop (2006's Twist Party!!! ), the arrival of Santa Claus (2002's 'Tis the Season for Los Straitjackets), Latin rock & roll (2007's Rock en Español, Vol. 1), and popular television theme songs (2019's Channel Surfing).

Deke Dickerson is a veteran of the Southern California roots music scene and has toured for years with various bands, including the Dave and Deke Combo and Deke Dickerson and the Ecco-Fonics. His former band members have gone on to play with Social Distortion, X, Tiger Army, and Los Straitjackets.
Dickerson is the author of Sixteen Tons: The Merle Travis Story (BMG Books, 480 pages), the first-ever full-length biography devoted to Country Music Hall of Fame member Merle Travis, a brilliant, multitalented, and deeply troubled artist who is widely considered a genius. He has also had two books published by Voyageur Press, The Strat in the Attic and The Strat in the Attic 2. As a well-known historian of roots music, Dickerson has contributed liner notes to reissue projects for such labels as Capitol, RCA, Bear Family, and Sundazed, and has written for several guitar magazines.
In 2019 Dickerson won the Ameripolitan Music Award for Musician of the Year.
