This quote rings true for the up-and-comer, Kat Hasty. As a child, before she knew how to put words on paper, she was singing and writing music. Born and raised in West Texas, her upbringing pours through her songwriting in tales of desert highways and the hustle and bustle of oil towns. Laced with heartache, joy, loss, and female angst, her songs are ingenious and uniquely her own. The songwriter released her first EP, Drowning in Dreams, in 2020. Her single, Pretty Things, quickly rose in popularity and has taken her and her band all over the country. In her own words, "The show is a little more rock and roll than the stripped-down acoustic stuff. We like to have fun." With a new album set to release in May, this up-and-comer is sure to take wind this year. Created by Kellner Schoenke at their Longmont restaurant, The Black Buzzard drink fused bacon-infused bourbon and ten fidy imperial stout. Chef and Oskar Blues fooderies partner, Jason Rogers, shared a sip with Kellner, and they realized they had both frequented the same closed blues bar on 16th and Market Street, Brendan's. Years later, Brendan's became available, and it seemed like the perfect time to put some music back into the heart of LoDo. They named the venue after the drink that started it all. Today, located blocks away from Coors Field and Union Station, The Black Buzzard at Oskar Blues Denver hosts buzz-worthy musicians of all genres from Denver and beyond.
