If you're a music fan, you've seen the iconic 1967 photo of Jimi Hendrix setting his electric guitar on fire at the Monterey Pop Festival. The Dirty Grass Players have taken inspiration from this image in an unexpected way. Besides the well-deserved credit Hendrix gets as a pioneering electric guitarist, the man wrote some great songs, songs that can stand on their own even without a wall of amps and the wail of a Stratocaster. You can see for yourself at The 8x10 on June 20 when DGP presents “Acoustic Ladyland”, a set that will be heavy on Hendrix covers bluegrass style in addition to DGP originals. If you've heard the band's masterful handling of material by Pink Floyd, the Allman Brothers, or the Grateful Dead, you know there will be plenty of instrumental pyrotechnics even if they leave the lighter fluid at home.
Presented by The 8x10.
