Rewiring Resistance: Sonic Cyberfeminism on the Dancefloor
This talk examines how trans, femme and queer people can reclaim the dancefloor through
sonic cyberfeminism and the revolutionary potential of glitch. Rather than focusing on
representation alone, we'll explore how the very act of dancing and DJing becomes a form of
sonic resistance when approached through a cyberfeminist lens.
We'll dive into the ways glitch—as both sound aesthetic and conceptual framework—disrupts
expected patterns and creates space for fuller self-expression in club culture. By embracing
noise, disruption, and technological intervention, we can transform exclusionary spaces into
sites of collective liberation.
The presentation offers practical strategies for reshaping dance music environments through
networked solidarity—creating tool guides for navigating club scenes while building community
across the decks and dancefloor. We'll explore how these connections form temporary
autonomous zones where sound becomes a vehicle for collective transformation.
Through sonic cyberfeminism, we reimagine the club not just as entertainment but as an
educational and revolutionary space where queer and trans bodies in motion challenge
dominant narratives through rhythm, frequency, and intentional disruption.
